01 · Who it's for

Who can go fully private.

Full private health insurance isn't open to everyone – but it is open to exactly the people who want to decide on their own protection.

Self-employed & freelancers

You're not tied to the solidarity system and can switch to full private cover at any time.

Employees with a good income

If your gross income is above the compulsory insurance threshold, you're free to choose – with an employer contribution.

Civil servants with benefit aid

With your benefit-aid entitlement, private health insurance covers the rest precisely – often at a particularly low cost.

02 · Why private

Guaranteed benefits instead of watered-down promises.

In the statutory system, lawmakers decide what you get – and keep cutting it back. In full private cover, your scope of benefits is contractually guaranteed. And unlike statutory health insurance (GKV), real reserves are built up for your old age.

Contractually guaranteed
Once agreed, your scope of benefits stays with you. No political benefit cuts like in the statutory system.
14 billion €
in aging reserves that Generali has set aside to stabilize your premium in old age (funded, not pay-as-you-go).
Reimbursement
You're a private patient: free choice of doctor and clinic, treatment by specialists, often a faster appointment.

Private health insurance (PKV) is attractive for tax, too: a large share of your premiums is deductible, and as an employee your employer pays half.

03 · The plans

Three routes to your private protection.

You decide how comprehensive your protection is and how high your deductible is. Later, you can move up to the stronger plan without a new health assessment.

Up to 5

monthly premiums back per year. You can still go for preventive care – there's a preventive-care allowance of up to 300 €.

05 · All-around protection

Three modules that make your protection complete.

Daily sickness allowance

If you're ill for longer, your income stops – for the self-employed, immediately. Daily sickness allowance protects your standard of living.

  • For employees, tradespeople & freelancers
  • Cover up to the level of your net income
  • The benefit is tax-free

Premium relief in old age

With EBE or EBE63 you provide for the future today and pay noticeably less for your health insurance in retirement.

  • Lower premium from your 63rd or 65th birthday
  • Employer contributes for employees
  • Premiums tax-deductible, the reduction tax-free

Long-term care cover

In old age, almost one in two people become in need of care. Statutory care covers only part of it – the rest is your gap.

  • Compulsory long-term care insurance as a basis
  • Supplementary care cover, also state-subsidized
  • Closes the gap (care home: quickly over 100.000 €)

06 · Frequently asked questions

Clearly explained, honestly answered.

Who can take out full private health insurance?

Self-employed professionals and freelancers, at any time. Employees, once their gross income is above the compulsory insurance threshold. And civil servants with a benefit-aid entitlement. Whether you qualify is something we'll clarify in conversation.

What does private health insurance (PKV) cost in old age?

In younger years, private cover builds up reserves (aging reserves) that cushion the higher costs of old age – at Generali, over 14 billion €. With premium relief in old age (EBE/EBE63) you lower your premium in retirement even further.

What is the premium refund?

If you submit no bills for a calendar year, you get part of your premiums back. In GesundProP this is guaranteed – up to five monthly premiums per year. In GesundPro1 there is a performance-based refund.

Can I move back to statutory health insurance?

A return to statutory cover (GKV) is only possible under certain conditions and becomes harder with age. That's exactly why the switch should be well thought through. I work through it honestly with you before you decide.

Is private health insurance worth it for the self-employed?

For many, yes: better care with predictable, benefit-based premiums instead of income-based statutory premiums. Whether it pays off for you depends on your income, health and life plans – we'll look at that together.

Your next step

Is full private cover your path?

We work through your situation calmly – honestly, with no pressure and an eye on old age. In person in Lüdenscheid or via video.
