Property & liability insurance · Homeowners Optimal XXL
A fire, a burst pipe inside the wall, a roof stripped by the storm: damage to a house quickly runs into the tens of thousands. Generali's Optimal XXL homeowners (building) insurance rebuilds your house at index-linked replacement value. With all-risks cover, even for minor storms and clumsy handling. Planned personally with you.
01 · The risk
No other purchase in life is as valuable as your own home. That is exactly why damage to the building fabric weighs so heavily: a burst pipe in the wall, a storm over the roof or water in the basement can drive the rebuild into the tens of thousands.
Important: in the Optimal variant, Generali waives any reduction for gross negligence and pays 100 %.
02 · The benefits
Generali's homeowners insurance protects the building fabric and everything permanently attached to the house. You choose which perils and extras fit your building.
Basic cover
The core of any homeowners insurance: damage to walls, roof and permanently installed systems is covered.
Optimal XXL
Everything that isn't explicitly excluded is insured. Even what classic tariffs fail to cover.
Optional
Heavy rain and flooding are on the rise and no longer hit only houses by the river. The natural-hazards module closes the gap.
Energy
If you invest in renewable energy, you want it protected too. In the Optimal cover, it's included.
Included
Garage, garden shed and whatever stands around the house are part of the cover too.
Optimal
A moment of carelessness shouldn't cost you your cover. Generali pays in full even then.
03 · Example claims
Example claims. They show what you would have to pay yourself without cover, and how Generali steps in for the same case.
04 · Index-linked value & Optimal XXL
Index-linked replacement value adjusts your sum insured automatically to rising building and labor costs. Together with the waiver of underinsurance, that means: a claim is never underpaid. Optimal XXL adds an all-risks layer on top that also applies to minor storms, animal bites and clumsy handling.
This cover is also part of Generali's Vermögenssicherungspolice (all-in-one property & liability policy), which bundles several lines of insurance in one contract and, depending on the modules, earns up to 25 % customer bonus.
05 · Who it's for
If you live in your own house, you bear every structural loss alone. Index-linked replacement value makes sure the rebuild is covered even when costs have risen.
In a single- or two-family house you rent out, a lot of capital sits in the building. Well-thought-out cover keeps your investment stable even in a claim.
If you build or buy, you should set up the cover correctly from the start, including PV, heat pump and natural hazards based on location.
06 · Frequently asked questions
The basic cover includes fire, tap water, storm and hail, but not flooding, backwater, earthquakes or snow load. Heavy rain in particular is becoming more common and can hit houses far from any river. The optional natural-hazards module closes this gap; the deductible depends on the ZÜRS hazard class of your location.
With index-linked replacement value, your house is permanently insured at the current rebuilding cost. The sum insured adjusts automatically to building and labor costs. Together with the waiver of underinsurance, this ensures that a claim is never underpaid, no matter how much building costs have risen.
Yes. In the Optimal variant, photovoltaics, solar thermal systems and heat pumps on or in the building are included, as are EV charging stations. That way your investments in renewable energy belong to the building cover too.
The basic cover pays for storm from wind force 8. With Optimal XXL all-risks cover, damage below wind force 8 is also insured, plus vandalism, animal bites and clumsy handling. The deductible is then only 100 €.
The premium depends on living area, year of construction, fittings, location and chosen modules such as natural hazards, so there is no flat rate. In a free initial consultation we work out the cover for your house individually.
